Memorandum of Intention regarding Construction and Operation of New Passenger Terminal in Khabarovsk (Noviy) International Airport

On December 16, 2016, Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN, headquartered in Tokyo, President & CEO: Takuma Hatano) signed a Memorandum of Intention (“MOI”) with Sojitz Corporation (Sojitz, headquartered in Tokyo, President & CEO: Yoji Sato), Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd. (JATCO, headquartered in Tokyo, Chairman & CEO: Isao Takashiro), and PJSC “Khabarovsk Airport” (KHV, headquartered in City of Khabarovsk, Board of Directors Chairman: Konstantin Basyuk). The purpose of the signed MOI is to confirm proceeding discussion of implementing the joint project in Khabarovsk (Noviy) International Airport located in the Russian Far East region.

This is a project entailing the development and operation of a new passenger terminal in Khabarovsk (Noviy) International Airport. The investment may be made by Sojitz, JATCO and JOIN into a joint venture company in Japan, which will co-invest alongside with KHV into a joint venture company in Russia.

The ceremony for the exchange of MOI was held in Tokyo, with the attendance by Mr. Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Putin, President of Russia Federation.

As a part of the “quality infrastructure investment” promoted together by the Japanese Government and Japanese private companies, JOIN continuously intends to facilitate Japanese companies through the creation of a business environment that encourages their participation in overseas airport operational projects, and the parties aim that this project may contribute to the development of the Russian Far East region. With the cooperation from the two Japanese companies, JOIN will proceed to accelerate the discussion in details going forward to reach a final agreement on the project.
