JOIN Supports the Urban Development Project -Waterpoint Project - in the suburb of Ho Chi Minh City

Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN, headquartered in Tokyo, President & CEO: Takuma Hatano) received approval today from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism following its decision to invest JPY 1.9 billion to participate in the urban development project in Ben Luc, Long An, a strategic economic area of Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam jointly with Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd (headquartered in Fukuoka, President & CEO: Sumio Kuratomi).

This project encompasses the development of a housing complex comprised of townhouses, villas, land plots, and public facilities on about 165 hectares of land located in Ben Luc, the gateway to the Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City.

In light of the proximity to Ho Chi Minh City where there are surging needs for residential housing bolstered by the rapid economic growth of the country, this project will provide excellent townscape with convenient means of transportation through service such as free shuttle-bus and facility such as Park-and-Ride.

By utilizing Japan’s expertise in large-scale housing complex development and bus-operation business, this project is expected to promote transit-oriented development (TOD) outside of Japan.
