Memorandum of Understanding with Surbana Jurong Consultants of Singapore

On September 28, 2016, Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN, headquartered in Tokyo, President & CEO: Takuma Hatano) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Surbana Jurong Consultants Pte. Ltd. (SJ), a company duly organized and existing under the laws of Singapore and one of Asia’s leading consultancies in urban and infrastructure developments. The purpose of the signed MOU is to cooperate in overseas urban and infrastructure projects.

The MOU between JOIN and SJ covers the following areas of collaboration:

1. sharing of information on various types of infrastructure projects;
2. exploration of urban / infrastructure projects participation by both Singaporean and Japanese companies; and
3. creating project solutions incorporating know-how and technology from both Singapore and Japan.

It sets out the parties’ intent to discuss potential infrastructure projects in ASEAN, Singapore, India, Middle-East and Africa, as the parties may consider appropriate. Such projects might involve railways and transport systems, toll roads, port terminals, airport terminals, urban development, and logistics.

The ceremony for the exchange of MOU was held in Tokyo, with the attendance by Mr. Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Lee, Prime Minister of Singapore.

Going forward, JOIN continuously intends to be involved in the overseas transport and urban development projects from the early stages, cooperating with host  governments and related parties, to facilitate Japanese companies through the creation of a business environment that encourages their participation in overseas infrastructure business
