President and CEO Hatano Attends the First Japan-China Forum on Third Country Business Cooperation

On October 26, Mr. Takuma Hatano, President and CEO of Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) attended the First Japan-China Forum on Third Country Business Cooperation held jointly by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China’s Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission.

As representatives of the Government of Japan, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Taro Kono, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the forum, while from the Government of China, H.E. Mr. Lilink Keqiang, Premier of the State Council, H.E. Dr. Zhong Shan, Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Mr. Helink Lifeng, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, attended. The forum brought together approximately 1,400 participants, including top executives of major industrial players in Japan and China.

At the latter half of the forum sectional meetings were organized for the four fields of transportation and distribution, energy and environment, industrial sophistication and financial support (IoT, new economy, healthcare), and regional development (EEC, industrial park, smart city). Mr. Hatano made the speech at the sectional meeting of transportation and distribution, and he addressed about Japan and China’s cooperation for development of infrastructure in the third countries. Many government officials, private enterprises and the press from both Japan and China exhibited great interest in the subject of the forum, which resulted in the large attendance of the four section meetings.

JOIN will continue to support and facilitate Japanese corporations to participate in the global infrastructure market.
