Memorandum of Corporation with Digital Economy Promotion Agency, Thailand

Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (hereinafter “JOIN”, headquartered in Tokyo, President & CEO: Tatsuhiko Takesada) and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand (hereinafter “depa”) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (hereinafter the “MoC”) to promote mutual collaboration and information sharing from the early stages of projects related to smart city development and digital infrastructure in Thailand. The signing of the MoC was announced at the ASEAN-Japan Smart Cities Network High-Level Meeting held in Takamatsu City on November 10, 2025.

Under this MoC, JOIN and depa will explore opportunities for cooperation in areas such as developing and investing in digital infrastructure and proof-of-concept (PoC) for people-centric  smart city projects in Thailand. The two parties will  work together to foster innovation and growth in the digital sector, and pursue opportunities for collaboration.

Depa, established in 2017 under Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, serves to support the development of the digital industry and innovation, and to promote the adoption of digital technologies. Depa actively advances smart city initiatives nationwide by certifying smart cities, encouraging private sector participation through tax incentives, and fostering international collaboration. 

JOIN aims to participate in overseas transport and urban development projects from the early stage, working closely with host governments and related agencies, to facilitate Japanese companies through the creation of a business environment that encourages their participation in overseas projects. JOIN remains committed t to actively pursue such initiatives going forward.
